Hello 2024
Since I began writing about the environment and climate in 2005, my time has been swallowed up almost entirely, but especially these last few years by trying first to make sense of the world and how climate change reshapes every facet of our world and daily lives and then to write coherently about this in a way that resonates with a broad audience.
My aim is not only to bridge the gap between scientific understanding and public awareness but also to convey the urgency and magnitude of climate change in a way that spurs action and drives meaningful change.
I’m beyond grateful for all the support. 2023 was an unbelievable year for global climate, with a strong El Niño and other natural and man-made factors contributing to record-setting warmth. I expect the next twelve months will be even more important for the climate and the world at large.
As we step into the new year, it is imperative to shift our perspective: do not merely view 2023 as the warmest year on record to date; instead, think of it as one of the coolest years in the forthcoming fifty years.
Happy New Year, everyone.
